Dr. Cesar Parra has sold the Pan Am team gold medal winning horse Grandioso as well as a rising FEI star Federleicht to the Glock Performance Horse Centre in Austria. Gaston Glock acquired these two dressage horses as competition mounts for in-house rider Marcel Schoenmakers.
Michael and Sarah Davis’ 11-year old Westfalian gelding Grandioso (by Grosso Z x Palisandergrund) was member of the gold medal winning U.S. dressage team at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. The bay gelding started his fabulous career under Jason Canton winning the 2007 American Young Dressage Horse Championships as a 6-year old and finished third at the 2009 U.S. Developing Horse Championships. Parra got the ride on the international calibre horse in 2009 and consolidated him at Grand Prix level.
In addition to Grandioso Glock also purchased the talented 8-year old Westfalian mare Federleicht (by Furst Piccolo x Ferragamo) from Parra’s stables, which are located in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey and Jupiter, Florida. The dark bay mare has unlimited movement potential and has been briefly competed by Parra’s bereiter Kevin Kohmann, who successfully presented her at Fourth Level at the 2011 Dressage at Devon CDI.
“We are delighted to be training Grandioso and Federleicht at the GHPC in future,” said Marcel Schoenmakers. “They are absolutely exceptional talents, so we naturally have great expectations for their future in sport.”
The Colombian born American is extremely happy that his horses have moved to a professional European yard. “This is exactly our philosophy, goal and passion,” Parra told Eurodressage. “Buy the best young horses we can find in Europe or America, develop them to FEI level and Grand Prix and then sell. I am very proud of Grandioso and Federleicht and know that they are going to go on and do exciting things in the future. They are both very special horses.”
Parra has now sold his 10th dressage horse to Europe. “Times are changing and clients no longer necessarily have to travel to Europe to find the best horses,” Cesar explained. “We are producing international calibre horses here in the United States as well and Europeans are now coming to our continent to find their future stars.”
