Devon, PA, September 30, 2003— Dr. Cesar Parra and Horses Unlimited’s Pik L swept the small tour at the Dressage at Devon show with scores in all three of their classes hitting the definitive 70% mark. This hattrick continues an amazing season that has resulted in more than 20 FEI wins at prestigious CDI shows from Florida to New York. At Devon, a 72.333 in the Intermediaire I freestyle capped off three days of showing that also included a 71% in the Intermediaire I and a 70% in the Prix St. Georges.

“Riding and working with Pik L is such a pleasure,” said Dr. Parra. “He’s extremely reliable and he loves to show off. Combined with his natural suppleness and strength, he makes a wonderful dressage partner.” Pik L is an imported Hanoverian stallion by Pik Bube II.

And while blue ribbons are always appreciated, the Dressage at Devon wins were particularly sweet. “Dressage at Devon is such a highly regarded show,” Dr. Parra said. “Winning here is wonderful.”

Pik L’s owner Anne Whitten was also extremely pleased with her stallion. “I’m always so proud of him,” she said. “I get nervous before they go in the ring, but I know I can always count on Cesar to deliver a great performance.”

Now that Pik L has so conclusively conquered the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire divisions, the focus for the next year will be on training for grand prix. “He has a very nice piaffe and passage and needs time to mature as a grand prix horse,” Parra said of his partner.

Dr. Parra is a USDF Gold Medalist and member of the International Dressage Trainers Club. He trains for his own Piaffe Performance training stable. He and his family split their time between Florida, New Jersey and Germany.
